I almost missed this gem!! I’m always looking for local roasters when traveling. I was going to Home Depot and just stumbled across it. I asked if they were still open and told yes (however they weren’t which tells you TONS about their customer focus!
Just stopped in The Wild Roaster. Although closed for the July 4th festivities, I was still offered a cup of Java that they were getting ready to bring to Deerfield’s Celebration. The owner also gave me a treat. A soft and chewy nut bar. An off the beaten path but well worth finding. Why only four stars?
Don't miss this cozy cafe next to the Metra Station. Their croissants are the best around. So buttery & flaky, with a crisp exterior, yet fluffy middle. The cherry pie also was delicious -- big cherries, and it's not too sweet. Perfect accompaniment to their hot coffee.
My wife and I had 2 hours to kill waiting for an appointment In Deerfield. We happened upon The Wild Roaster and the engaging proprietor, K. Fresh pastries, coffee drinks made to order, and a delightful old-fashioned atmosphere. All delicious! My wife is raving about the bag of freshly ground coffee she purchased.
