I was on a journey from Columbus, Ohio to Houston, Texas and it took me through Jackson Tennessee. I am a coffee snob. I used to roast coffee beans. I was not happy that the coffee shop was not a standalone building but lost in some university somewhere.
Great place, maybe the only place north of i40 where straight espresso not served in a paper cup. Some soft furniture would be nice; it's all hard tables and chairs(though they're nice). Quiet, unless people are chatting, and somewhat loud and echo-y. Good ambient music (acoustic guitar atm).
Modero has the best coffee in Jackson! Freshly roasted, great espresso and cappuccino. Nice atmosphere, but more of a "study" environment than a "hangout" vibe. The only downside is that this is definitely a university coffee shop - it has unpredictable hours and it's hard to get to.
I have such a hard time finding good traditional macchiatos. Modern Coffee Roasters makes a dang good one! I enjoyed the atmosphere and they have personable and knowledgeable staff.
