If you are a connoisseur of coffee, you need to try Liturgy. Pour over from them was a spiritual experience, one of the most flavorful cups I've ever had the pleasure of consuming. One and one (cortado and espresso with seltzer) was similarly excellent.
This is some very delicious espresso. Good fresh beans with an upscale espresso machine. The staff are super friendly and nice also. If you’re into good espresso definitely suggest getting in a good pour here.
If you're in this neighborhood, you may find it hard to choose a coffee shop. There's one next door from here and another a block away. They're all fine, but I think Liturgy is a standout. The pour overs here are the best in the city, and they always have a big assortment of high-end coffees to choose from.
If there is a more serious espresso bar in Durham, it has yet to be revealed. Liturgy checks all the boxes and simply nails all the important qualities while leaving all the other BS behind. Just one example will give you a sense of just how serious they are when pulling shots: everything is weighed twice. Yep.
