Coffee roasters in New York

Manhattan roasting is a story of squeezed real estate: 787 Coffee (a Puerto Rico farm-to-cup operation with cafés all over the island) and Stumptown's Ace Hotel outpost anchor the scene, while the Starbucks Reserve Roastery in Chelsea runs the spectacle end. The serious volume roasting happens across the river — see our Brooklyn guide — but for beans roasted on or near the island itself, this list is the real map.

What locals say

Starbucks Reserve Roastery New York is a completely different experience from a regular Starbucks — it feels more like a coffee theater. The space is huge, beautifully designed, and filled with the sounds and aromas of fresh coffee roasting right in front of you.

Found this little shop on a whim and it did not disappoint! The vibe is instantly set with tons of fresh indoor plants and Puerto Rican flags (Hello? Bad Bunny? Wya?) We ordered a Conquito & Horchata latte both with oat milk. 10/10.

the smell of coffee hits like a warm blanket when you walk in. they were out of the whiskey beans but madeup for it by being precious. Rachel was wonderful- what a great coffee experience.
